Inside Hello Pink
My earliest memory of enterprise was in primary school when I attempted to set up a membership club for my class mates.
Long before computers featured in homes and workplaces, I diligently wrote out the introduction letters, but I was a victim of my own success when everyone wanted to join and I couldn’t keep up with the demand!
This was my first lesson in business and I can tell you that I am extremely grateful for the technological advances since the 1980’s!
How I Got Here
In 2009 I completed a 2 year Business course with the intention that one day I would start my own business. The qualification ended up accelerating my career in the Fire Service and I moved into more specialist roles involving customer engagement, project management, project evaluation and data analysis.
My husband had started a business 3 years earlier and to be honest it was really difficult, every single struggle that entrepreneurs have, we had. He struggled to do all of the things needed in a business, as well as getting on with the task of making actual money!
They say you don’t really learn until you make mistakes, I think that’s really true and I feel the pain of every entrepreneur I see in real life or online talking about the real life struggles.
After a difficult couple of years working full time over the pandemic, I reduced my hours to part time again and started to consider the business idea again.
I started Hello Pink as a part time Virtual Assistant come Business Support service but quickly realised my 1-1 time was limited and I couldn’t help as many people as I wanted to. I have a few existing clients from this time, where I enjoy the broadness of the tasks but now I’m taking things in a different direction. I love connecting people and seeing people who have put their all into something make a success of it.
The sad thing is, most people give up because it’s just not workable for them anymore, the work v’s the outcome just doesn’t add up. I’ve created this hub to give entrepreneurs a chance to connect with the experts with the skills they don’t have – to make up their virtual team, gradually.
My message is, don’t give up before you’ve tried getting the help with the things you can’t do, or the things you don’t like. You never know, it might be the difference you need to fly
Ways to Get Involved in the Hello Pink Business Hub
Whether you’re a solopreneur, an entrepreneur, a business owner, self-employed (or any other term you prefer to use), the chances are we all have similar goals, aspirations, problems and needs. It can be difficult to find your community online, because groups are either too big, too cliquey, too overwhelming or too quiet; so where do we find our connection? We need to connect with other like-minded individuals, as much as we need to learn from perspectives of others. Plus working alone can be incredibly isolating.
In a world where freelancers and experts have resorted to putting themselves on a faceless marketplace at rock bottom prices to reach potential clients, and business directories have become boring lists and personality-free zones, wouldn’t it be interesting to see if there is another way, a way to make better, stronger, connections.
In the very near future you’ll be able to do all of these things to get involved:
- Find useful services, tools, coaches, templates, training, group programmes, memberships and other offerings to help you and your business
- Read human-generated relevant content and articles
- Ask the community a burning question
- Put forward suggestions
- Download useful resources
- Join in on a work-along week where you actually finish something useful
- Write a featured guest blog
- Sponsor a post, challenge or get a featured listing
- Advertise an event
When visitors search for subject matter experts, they’ll reach the directory. The directory is an affordable way to guarantee the community find you when they are searching for what you do.

Grow With Me
Like all new projects, expect this to grow and development, with lots of experimentation. Your interaction and ideas can help shape this community.
Other Ways to Work With Me
I started Hello Pink as a Virtual Assistant come Business Support service but quickly realised my 1-1 time was limited and I couldn’t help as many people as I wanted to. I have a few existing clients from this time, and I love learning about their business and helping with whatever they need.
My absolute love however is anything with the word ‘customer’ in it; Customer Insight, Customer Engagement, Customer Feedback, Getting to Know Your Customer… You get the picture. So I’ve decided to offer a few hours of bespoke support in this area per week.
How I Like to Work
Transparency
Continual Improvement
Inclusive & Welcoming
Transparency is really important to me, I will strive to be transparent about my own personal recommendations and whether or not I’ve used it myself or mark clearly if I’m an affiliate.
I want the hub to be a well maintained and well informed place for entrepreneurs to find resources and experts, so there will be lots of opportunities for getting involved.
I believe that nothing is ever finished and everything can be improved upon, I like to instil this in my own work and encourage others to do the same.
This is my commitment to you, I will always improve on what is here. If will continue to develop it and make it the place I imagine in my mind.
What’s important is that we are never afraid to try just because we know it won’t be perfect. No one ever achieves perfection on day one.
It’s really important to me that I build a positive, inclusive and welcoming community.
I don’t believe we should be bystanders if we see unacceptable behaviour aimed at individuals in our communities and I will continue to strive to make my community a safe space.
I am always learning about what’s important to others and will endeavour to make improvements where needed. I know I’m not perfect though, and we are all learning.
Me Behind the Scenes
I live with my husband, 2 children and my 2 year old Border Collie called Loki.
I love yoga, although I’m not that good at it. I’ve been going for about 25 years and I still struggle to touch my toes! My favourite part is definitely the savasana at the end!
I love to read, but mainly books about business and/or psychology, I will never stop learning until the day I die.
